About Me

My name is Chris and I’m a Scottish photography enthusiast living in Glasgow. By day I’m a business intelligence developer, but in my down time I’m able to pick up my camera and go out and have some fun. I’ll shoot just about anything that takes my interest but I prefer people and animals.

So you’ll probably find my portfolio will reflect this with a lot of portrait, sport, and wildlife images. Although I’m sure the odd landscape will creep in from time to time.

Photography has been part of my life for a long time; I grew up with photography in my family as my dad was really into his photography. I remember being around 8 years old and helping my dad develop his black and white photos in the dark room we had in the garage. Even though I’ve always had a camera I wasn’t lucky enough to get my hands on my first SLR until I was in my early 20’s. I started off with a Nikon D80 which I absolutely loved; I’m not a brand snob, choosing Nikon just meant I could borrow my dad’s lenses. After that I progressed to the full frame Nikon D700 which is just an amazing camera, with a D7000 as a backup and a selection of fast primes and a few trusty F2.8 zooms. With this I made the jump from enthusiast to semi-pro and started doing paid work for local sports events, family and pet portraiture, and weddings. I absolutely loved this work and I continued with this for a number of years. After a while I found that I was only ever taking shots for other people and very rarely getting to take shots for me, so I decided to close my business. With that I sold all my Nikon gear (with the exception of an old Nikon FE2 and some primes) and setup on the micro four-thirds platform. I’ve always liked the M4/3 form factor and the quality of the cameras and lenses has been steadily increasing and nowadays it’s pretty damn good. So I now run around with an Olympus OM-D E-M5, usually with the Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-40mm f/2.8 attached to it, but I am tempted by a lot of the primes that Olympus offer.
